About Mark

I’m Mark Curtis and I am running to be the next Representative of the 35 th House District of Ohio. After spending the last 8 years serving as a member of the Twinsburg City Schools Board of Education, I decided it was vitally important to continue to serve in a greater capacity. Currently, Public Education is under attack in the Statehouse. Public tax dollars being used to fund private education via vouchers despite 90% of students in Ohio attending public schools. This movement threatens the very existence of public education as we know it.

There are bills being proposed to eliminate DEI initiatives and punish public schools and universities that embrace fairness and equality. Marginalized populations are being punished and denied basic human rights by extremist elements that threaten our democracy and basic values.

Finally, the will of the people is not being recognized by the majority currently in power. Because of the extreme gerrymandering of our state, politicians no longer care about serving those they represent and answer only to special interests, power and greed.

We have an opportunity to flip this seat and with our support, we can begin to change this narrative. My opponent supports all of the above. I intend to fight for you, the people; not corporations and special interests. I cannot do it alone and I need your support.

Help me change the trajectory of our state. Let’s make it happen in November.

I have worked in education my entire career and dedicated myself to serving under-represented populations. I attended and graduated from Warrensville Heights High School in 1986. I graduated from Otterbein University with a BA in 1991 and later obtained my Master’s degree from Hiram College in 2007.

I have been happily married to my wife, Dianne for 24 years and have 2 beautiful children, Taylor and Manny. Both of my children are successful graduates of Twinsburg High School.

I have lived in Twinsburg for over 20 years and have been active in the community since we moved here. I was appointed to the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center Board of Education in 2014. I was elected to the School Board in 2016 and served until 2024. I served in the capacity of President and Vice-President and was also the Legislative Liaison for the board. In this role, I learned the importance of engaging our elected officials on both the state and federal level. I also became intimately involved in the Ohio School Boards Association and was chosen to serve as a member of the Federal Legislative Advisory Council. I learned the value of working across the aisle to find areas of common ground and advocate for support of my district as well as public schools overall.
